Your tour begins at one of the most mysterious places in Scotland, Rosslyn Chapel.   Partly due to the explosion of the Dan Browne book The Da Vinci Code which purports to show how hidden secrets lurk within every crack of stone at this awe inspiring place.  The atmosphere even on a busy day is something to be experienced. The Chapel with its exquisite carvings, some of the best in the whole of Europe, and portray scenes which cannot be found in any other 15th century chapel is definitely worth visiting. Whether or not you are interested in the mysteries of life, carvings relevant to the biblical, masonic, pagan and Knights Templar themes this is a must.

From Rossyln Chapel you will head back towards Edinburgh taking time to stop and view the famous Forth Railway Bridge.  This 2.5 km. (1.5 mile) Forth Railway Bridge, the world’s first major steel bridge, with its gigantic girder spans of 521 m. (1710 ft.) ranks as one of the great feats of civilization. Construction began in 1883 and was formally completed on 4 March 1890 when HRH Edward Prince of Wales tapped into place a ‘golden’ rivet.  Following time to take photographs of this feat of construction you will then be taken to the location of the Royal Yacht Britannia being the Port of Leith.

On reaching your destination being Ocean Terminal you can enjoy lunch and refreshment within Ocean Terminal prior to boarding the Royal Yacht Britannia. This magnificent ship has played host to some of the most famous people in the world. Above all, however, she was home to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family. Now in Edinburgh you are welcome on board to discover the heart and soul of this most special of royal residences.  With an extended stop at this venue you can enjoy some leisurely shopping time with the fantastic range of shops within the Ocean Terminal.

ArthurSeatAs you depart from the Ocean Terminal, Port of Leith your Edinburgh Tour draws to a close with a visit to Arthur’s Seat and Salisbury Crags. Edinburgh has it’s very own extinct volcano Arthur’s Seat while Salisbury Crags are remains of glaciered rocks.  Arthur’s Seat has been called by this name since the 15th century. Some say that the name comes from the legendary Arthur of Camelot while some say that the extinct volcano is probably named after a local hero that had nothing to do with King Arthur.  With its myriad footpaths, mini loch and ruin on the hillside St. Anthony’s Chapel, which dates back to the 15th century and fantastic views of the City which provide ideal photograph opportunities Arthur’s Seat provides the perfect setting for your tour end.
