Your journey begins as we depart the city of Edinburgh and take you past Linlithgow, the birthplace of the famous Mary Queen of Scots! As we travel further west we continue to the city of Stirling, the place of our first stop where you have the opportunity to visit Stirling Castle a castle with a long and bloody history. Stirling Castle is one of the largest and most important castles, historically and architecturally in Scotland. The city of Stirling was the famous back drop for the Scottish Wars of Independence. Steeped in history with historic events such as the crowning of Mary of Queen of Scots along with several other Scottish Kings and Queens. Sitting majestically on top of Castle Hill, a volcanic crag and surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving the castle a strong defensive position. This castle which has had at least eight attempted sieges is certainly worth a visit and one which won’t leave you disappointed.
Following our stop in Stirling we continue our journey to the “bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond”. Loch Lomond is Britain’s largest expanse of fresh water and the ancient water bridge to the lands of the Clans MacFarlane and MacGregor. Here you can enjoy a fantastic Scottish lunch on the shores of this bonnie Loch. Take in the scenery and the clean fresh air of the Highlands with a stroll in the Loch Lomond National Park and the famous Trossachs. This is tour stop you are sure to enjoy.
As we begin our journey back to the city of Edinburgh you will have the opportunity to enjoy the experience of a working distillery which produces gallons of Scotland’s tipple! Glengoyne. Here you will see the production process and best of all…have an opportunity to taste the finished product!
As we head back across the Forth Road Bridge we take a small turn and stop at the famous Forth Rail Bridge, an ideal picture opportunity beside this huge feat of engineering. From this point we continue back into the heart of the City of Edinburgh where you tour ends leaving you with an array of memories from your day!
