Your tour begins as we leave Edinburgh travel away from the City and cross the Firth of Forth into the Kingdom of Fife. Here we pay homage to King Robert the Bruce at Dunfermline Abbey which along with the tomb of the Bruce also holds many other royal and historic associations.
From Dunfermline we continue to the city of Stirling. This beautiful city provides the backdrop to many famous Scottish battles of long ago. A beautiful city again steeped in history. Here you will have time to enjoy lunch and have the option of visiting Stirling Castle or to explore the city centre.
As we leave Stirling and begin our journey back to Edinburgh we pass the battlefield of Bannockburn and the Pentland hills.
You tour begins to draw to an end at the spectacular and one of the most mysterious places in Scotland, Rosslyn Chapel. The explosion of the Dan Browne book The Da Vinci Code stirred up huge interest in this beautiful Chapel as the book purports to show how hidden secrets lurk within every crack of stone at this awe inspiring place. The atmosphere even on a busy day is something to be experienced. The Chapel with its exquisite carvings, some of the best in the whole of Europe, and portray scenes which cannot be found in any other 15th century chapel is definitely worth visiting. Whether or not you are interested in the mysteries of life, carvings relevant to the biblical, masonic, pagan and Knights Templar themes this is a must.
Leaving Rosslyn Chapel we head back into the heart of the city of Edinburgh. Once back in Edinburgh your tour ends on the fantastic Royal Mile.
